D2cold, I read those reports about WiFi issues as well before purchasing the iPads but upon digging further found that it was a very small group of people who were reporting issues with WiFi. The iPads I played with at the store and the one I purchased had no issues.

The FreeBooks app is certainly worth downloading if you like classics.

Hey Asif,

I like the idea of a ebook/netbook combo with the swagger of an apple for a decent price. My only draw backs, as i wait for the ipad to reach mainland Canada, are some comments regarding possible Wifi issue's and the fact that ebooks are just not cheap enough.

However just based solely on wanting a tablet to read blogs, such as yours, newspapers, etc this should fit the bill nicely.

Dislike the stock, but the ipad might be right for me...

The FreeBooks app will be the first app i ever download for this device. Thanks for that Freebooks tip too as i wasn't aware of it until now.

Michael, some of the steps that Apple takes like the recent decision to only allow programming of apps in specific languages do not make much sense.

Regarding the stock, at an EV/EBITDA of 14, while the stock isn't exactly cheap, it does not appear to be overvalued either. I personally look for companies with EV/EBITDA values below 10 but then again Apple has a strong brand, 20% profit margins, a brand new product in the iPad, increasing sales of their MacBook adn iMac computers and a very strong balance sheet with a current ratio of 2.5.

To clarify: I don't dismiss the Ipad as a fad. My issue is with Apple's management culture. Gawker ran a good post about this: The Dark Side of Steve Jobs: http://bit.ly/at6VGH

The stock price is not expensive enough and volatility is too expensive for a short stock or long volatility position on Apple. As more people drink the Apple Koolaid we might get there though. I will be ready. In the meantime, I am patient.
