About SINLetter

From time to time I have been asked for suggestions about individual stock by friends and family. Suria Investment Newsletter (SINLetter) was founded in August 2005 as a means to disseminate my research and opinions about publicly traded stocks to friends and family. My approach to investing is mostly a value based philosophy applied to small or micro caps. Since micro caps are very volatile, I also like diversifying into emerging technologies, international stocks and some stocks with large capitalizations. This investment philosophy was formed after following the markets continuously over the last six years, through one of the biggest bubbles in history and the most severe bear market since the crash of 1929.

While I cannot claim to have a formal education in finance or business, I have learned about investing by reading various books including some by the investment gurus Benjamin Graham and Peter Lynch. Throughout my life, I learnt a lot about investing from my father who has invested in stocks and bonds for over 30 years and is the most successful investor I know.

Some of my investments over the last three years such as Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI), Priceline.com (PCLN) and Medifast (MED) have provided returns of over 100% on my initial investment. While some may argue that it is possible to see such remarkable returns after a bull market crash, most of the returns on these companies were made long after the markets had bounced back from their lows. Just like everyone else, I am prone to making mistakes but thankfully the "Enrons" have been few and far in-between. I hope that you will enjoy reading this free stock investment newsletter.
